  • Background Knowledge in Second/Foreign Language Teaching (e.g. Student Profiles, Needs Analysis, etc.)
  • Turkish Language Knowledge and Awareness
  • In-class Teaching Skills (e.g. Lesson planning, teaching four skills, etc.)

  1. WHAT ARE THE MOST DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE PROGRAM?

1.The First and Only! It is the first (and only) interactive Foreign Language Turkish Teacher Certificate program that can be completed completely online in Turkey.

  1. Not a passive audience, but an active participant! The program is designed to allow participants to be active and involved in their own learning process.

  1. Needs-based! The program is planned as “Modular” because it aims to develop different knowledge and skills in Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language. Accordingly, the program consists of 5 modules and each module targets a different area. In this regard, the course offers a multidimensional rich content and aims to enrich the knowledge and skills of the participants in different areas.

Module 1: Practical Knowledge & Skills: The content in this module is entirely chosen from topics that will directly contribute to the lesson planning and lesson execution process (e.g. vocabulary teaching, teaching listening, classroom management etc.). This module aims to support teachers in their own practice  by enriching their repertoire of practical teaching ideas. This module has been fully enriched with task-oriented interactive exercises to activate participants’ learning process in the best way.

Module 2: From Theory to Practice: This module is mainly composed of current and important academic subjects in the field of foreign language teaching. (e.g. Developmental Psychology, Mother Language and Foreign Language Learning Theories, etc.) The courses in these videos are mostly taught by the academic staff of the Faculty of Education and the videos here are fully interactive as they are accompanied by constant comprehension check questions. Through these videos, participants will be able to improve their knowledge of the principles on which second/foreign language teaching is based.

Module 3: Classroom Teaching: This module consists of recorded lessons in real classroom environments. These lesson videos can be used for many different purposes. For example, the participants will be able to earn points by doing exercises related to the video or they will be able to complete their peer observation tasks by watching the videos and doing a relevant peer observation task.

Module 4: Language Systems Teaching: This module aims to give guidance to teachers on teaching language systems (mainly grammar). The grammatical points to be taught here, especially at the Basic level, are explained in the form of micro-teaching by an experienced instructor. The videos in this module are also interactive with accompanying comprehension check questions.

Module 5: Panels: One of the important developmental tools of teachers is the academic conversations they do outside the classroom with their colleagues. To create such a context, panels on specific topics (e.g. Teaching Syrian learners etc.) have been organized and they have been recorded. A moderator had the chance to interview teachers, teacher trainers, students and experts in related fields to discuss most common controversial topics in the field. These panels aim to raise participants’ awareness in a variety of topics by giving them the chance to listen to the interviews and do the related tasks.
